June 30: On This Day In 2019
(At the debate this week, Trump tried to sell himself as a foreign policy wiz; the kind of guy who will make things happen even before he takes office. Funny, he didn't talk much about what happened after he actually took the oath last time. Such as this disaster...)
Trump’s third and final summit with Kim Jong Un also ends in failure OTDI 2019.

There’s nothing we can say about Trump’s strategic abilities that’s more eloquent than the summary published by Foreign Policy:
“Trump opted for…’reality show’ summits with Kim that were long on spectacle and short on substance. Convinced that his personal charm and deal-making skills could convince Kim to give up the nuclear deterrent on which the survival of his regime depends, Trump ended up getting nothing.’
FP continued: “Although the summits produced the sort of media attention that Trump craved, they succeeded only in enhancing Kim’s stature and underscoring Trump’s gullibility…. North Korea’s nuclear arsenal and missile capabilities have continued to improve ever since.”
(Okay, we’ll add one thing: It wasn’t just that United States got nothing, it’s that Trump also gave up a lot, including cancelling exercises with our ally, South Korea. And, oh yeah, his dignity).
