Trump has a habit of stating that he “alone” can fix things, and that he should receive full credit for what he called the health of the US economy. But when “ordinary’ people point out that Trump spews nonsense, it doesn’t necessarily register.
A wiser perspective: So it was newsworthy when famed investor Warren Buffet — who, unlike Donald Trump, has actually been the richest man in the world — finally called Trump out for his Trumpiness.
As Buffet noted, OTDI 2018:
“It is beyond arrogance for American businesses or individuals to boast that they have ‘done it alone.’”
Buffet even took space in wildly-popular annual letter to shareholders to make his point.
The Guardian notes that Buffet “also makes a possible criticism of the president’s trumpeting of US economic performance relative to, or at the expense of, other countries… Trump has targeted China with tariffs and regular criticism. The US, Buffett wrote, should ‘rejoice’ when other countries have bright futures. ‘Americans will be both more prosperous and safer if all nations thrive,’ he wrote.”
Throughout the year, we here at OTDI will bring you more details—and more data—about how destructive Trump’s economic and trade policies were. But it’s always nice when the Oracle of Omaha agrees with you.
